Senior Accounting Analyst
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Reporting to: TCM Controller

Primary Responsibilities/Job Description:
Become a key member on a fungible and highly skilled team that facilitates and ensures timely and accurate fund financial and investor statements on a regular basis. Activities may include a wide variety of accounting functions including but not limited to:

  • Analyzing new or unusual transactions to ensure a high level of data integrity for GAAP, tax, and operational accounting purposes – includes system set up and process development.
  • Compiling and analyzing pricing information related to “level 1 and 2” investments to ensure reasonableness of valuation.
  • Analyzing supporting discounted cash flow valuation models to ensure the appropriateness of “level 3” investment valuation.
  • Performing technical accounting research and drafting position papers as needed.
  • Reviewing estimated earnings and returns periodically and on a real time basis.
  • Closing the books and records for certain funds or SPV’s every month, including owning the related trial SPV’s to ensure accurate GAAP and tax accounting for each entity.
  • Ensuring accuracy of monthly and quarterly investor statements and related GAAP financial reports.
  • Delivering a standard monthly analysis and performance summary package to management.
  • Managing the external audit relationship and ensuring timely and clean audit opinions are obtained on an annual basis, including any interim test-work.
  • Managing the relationship with a third party administrator.
  • Assisting in any other needs or projects within the structuring, tax and fund accounting areas.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail oriented and self motivated
  • Team player and flexible, willing to perform any task necessary to achieve common goals
  • Strong technical accountant, public accounting in a national or regional firm required
  • An understanding of tax concepts as it relates to hedge funds and partnership taxes preferred
  • Undergraduate degree with a major in Accounting required
  • Financial services background required
  • 4- 6+ years of professional experience required

Salary:
Commensurate with skill set and experience level.  While small and entrepreneurial, from an HR policy perspective TCM strives to compensate staff at levels equivalent to the Big Four Accounting firms.
